| Sumario: | This is a research progress report written before the elections of 2002. It provides ananalysis of Costa Rican political attitudes, specially those of the youth, which are usedas context to understand recent electoral behavior. The central thesis is that specificsupport to the political system -specially towards parties and politicians- is more eroded that diffuse support, with the notable exception of the institutions of horizontalaccountability. It is also shown that system support is developed during the years ofsecondary education. |
