Resumo:The purpose of this article is to analyze three moments that have played a key role in the development of the violinist profession in Costa Rica. The method that was used to evaluate the role played by the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Conservatory of Music, and the Youth Program of the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica in the institutionalization of the violinist profession was a descriptive and qualitative analysis, guided by the concepts of field, and capital raised by the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu.
