Descripción
Sumario:In this essay we examine the acute counterpoint in Concierto para sordos by Matías Montes-Huidobro, because as its title indicates we are dealing with a polyphonic text. By means of a dead protagonist-narrator, the Cuban American author revisits the past in juxpaposition to the present of Cuban history. We analyze how carnavalesque humor, parody and satire intervene in the fictional material in order to give a final touch to the writing process, at times supports by spoken speech and, in other instances, in function of hearing the language.
