It is based on the criteria proposed by Fernando Cabo Aseguinolaza and has found that these two novels have characteristics of the picaresque genre despite the fact that in El Rey de La Habana these characteristics are more evident according to the referentialist orientation, while in the other one the picaresque character is more easily verified from the formal perspective. El presente trabajo describe huellas picarescas en la literatura fuera de Europa, mediante el análisis y comparación de dos novelas: El Rey de La Habana (cubana) e Irse de casa a los 18 (china) desde la perspectiva de la picaresca. Se basa en los criterios propuestos por Fernando Cabo Aseguinolaza. Se constata que ambas obras muestran características del género literario, a pesar de que en la cubana se manifiestan con más claridad las características picarescas según la orientación referencialista, mientras que en la china el carácter picaresco se comprueba más claramente desde la perspectiva formal.
