Sumario:Laboratory tests were used to evaluate the effect on the index properties, volumetric behavior and monotonic uniaxial strength of two clays due to the application of temperature during different time periods. Mean objective of this research project is to evaluate if the application of temperature in clays can be a good stabilization method in a future. In this first phase of the project, three temperatures (150, 225, 300°C) and time expositions of the samples (1, 7 and 15 days) were used in order to measurement the evolution of the properties in the clays. Results shows that expansion potential decrease and monotonic uniaxial strength increase when the temperature raise on the samples
