| Resumo: | In this article we study how the shoe industry was affected by thefirst and second peronist government`s economic policies. Wefocus our analysis on three aspects: machinery supplies, foreigntrade, and credit policy. It is important to highlight that the shoeindustry had initiated an export process at the beginning of thefirst peronist government that soon came to an end. We haveanalyzed different documents, commercial balances, enterprisespublications, and official sources. We consider that this studyhelps understand both: the compromises and agreements as wellas the conflicts between the industry and the peronist government. It also contributes to shed some light on the possibilities and limits of the Latin American countries to develop an export industry in the context of the Second World War. |
