Sumario:Company managers have opened up their steering committees to the communication manager. However, it is a timid opening with major challenges. This paper analyzes the situation in Spain, reflecting on several recent academic studies in the field of corporate management and communication. There is a summary of the professional situation, along with several conclusions that are indicative of the major challenges to increased professionalization and academic thinking.
