Descripción
Sumario:Arsenic is a highly toxic element that, in high concentrations in water, represents a serious risk to public health. Long-term exposure to arsenic, especially in its inorganic form, is associated with serious diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular problems and neurological disorders. The presence of arsenic in water can originate from both natural and anthropogenic sources, including the erosion of geological formations, mining and industry. There are various technologies for removing arsenic from water, among which the processes of adsorption, precipitation, oxidation/filtration and the use of membranes stand out. Each technology has its particular characteristics that make it more or less suitable depending on the water conditions, such as pH, arsenic concentration and the relationship with other elements present in the water, such as iron.
