Resumo:The purpose of this article based on a literature review is to document the potential impact or relationship between organizational culture and performance, analyzing scientific articles published in databases from 1983 through 2012. The research was structured and developed in three parts. The first part highlights two major methodological approaches used in addressing organizational culture. These approaches highlight the conceptual definitions, authors and most representative models in the academic world that have influenced both in how organizational culture is analyzed and performance factors in recent decades. The second part summarizes the different scales used to analyze the incidence between these two concepts; for this, a scale inventory summary, dimensions and variables used to identify the relationship between organizational culture and performance is presented. Finally, based on conclusions from scientific papers, an analysis of the relationship between organizational culture and performance is conducted. Findings highlight the lack of consensus on the definition and determination of the constitutive dimensions of the concepts; however, in most studies the influence of the organizational culture on performance is demonstrated.
