| Sumario: | The dissertation introduces an analysis of the typology as a result of regulated urban growth due to the strong influence of geography and topography on social conditions of the formal development of El Poblado, the southern hills of Medellin, a city located in the Aburrá Valley (Antioquia, Colombia). Taking the study of the growth patterns and the morphological structures, this work proposes to analyze the urban planning of this area, identifying the different stages and elements that have affected its transformation, supported throughout history. The main purpose of this analysis is to identify the growth model of El Poblado in different scales (urban, metropolitan and regional) including its limitations, threats and potentials.
