Sumario:Introduction: Patients undergoing thyroidectomy have within the risk of complications the presentation of transient hypocalcemia; however, some of these patients present this complication permanently. Objective: Identify the prognostic factors that establish the risk of a patient developing temporary or permanent hypocalcemia in patients undergoing thyroidectomy at the National University Hospital of Colombia. Methodology: Case-control analytical observational study; The data will be collected through a registry in the RedCap® database, compiling demographic, clinical, surgical and effect information on calcium in patients undergoing thyroidectomy at the National University Hospital of Colombia from 2017 to 2019. They will describe for each group the qualitative variables in terms of frequencies and the quantitative ones by measures of central tendencies and dispersion. Finally, the patients who develop the complication (cases) will be compared with those who do not (controls), establishing which variables could predict its development using the Chi-square test for nominal variables and Pearson's correlation analysis for quantitative variables.
