Sumario:This research, of descriptive type, permits to know and to analyze the general characteristics associated with the abandonment of the patients to the therapeutic process of the Center of Studies and Psychological Attention (CEAPSY) of the Pedagogic and Technological University of Colombia (UPTC); the factors are studied associated with the characteristics of the patient, the therapist and the therapy, and the context, from the analysis of medical history and telephone interviews to the consultants. The percentage of desertion is of the 88% of the cases received, with a frequency of around the 30% of the total of cases for each category of causes studied; in reference to the factor predisponentes of abandon, clarity on the influence of characteristics has not failed to come out as expected such like age, sex, educational, or social level, however, finds a level desertion correlated in addition to a variable of study like for example, the age, the phase of the process in which the consultant is found and the determining ones belonging to the context, between other ones.
