Descripción
Sumario:Post-Triassic plutonic rocks, known as Payande Stock, are outcropping in the eastern flank of the Colombian Central Cordillera nearby San Luis-Tolima town. Detailed cartographic, petrographic, and geochemical analyses carried out on these rocks reveal compositional variations from gabbroic diorite to granodiorite. Tectonic discrimination diagrams show that the Payande Stock is associated with volcanic arcs formed in active continental margins. The chemical characteristics and fieldwork allow us to make a comparison between this intrusive with volcanic and plutonic regional bodies originated during the Jurassic in the Central Cordillera and Upper Magdalena Valley.
