Sumario:The aim of this research was to assess the psychometrics properties of reliability and validity of the questionnaires of school social climate, parenting styles and life satisfaction from an positive youth development approach, in a teenagers sample from La Araucanía, Chile (n=338). To do this, three non-validated spanish instruments were applied to the chilean population: the Climate Perception and Center Functioning Scale (EPCFC), the Parental Style Assessment Scale (EEEP), and the Student’s life satisfaction scale (EESV). A sample of 338 chilean adolescent students was selected using nonprobability convenience sampling. The students were between 7th primary grade and 3rd grade high school, belonging to two public and two private educational institutions. Exploratory factor analyzes were performed to determine the psychometric properties of the scales and ANOVA to evaluate the differences in means between independent samples. The results of the EPCFC factor analysis generated a factorial solution different from the original, made up of three factors: bond, clarity of norms and values, and empowerment and opportunities, with adequate reliability indicators. The same analysis applied to the EEEP, provided a six-factor solution compatible with the original structure of the scale, with more than adequate reliability indicators and, finally, the EESV confirmed its one-dimensional nature. The ANOVAs report statistically significant differences in some of the factors of the scales, according to establishment, parental income, academic performance and educational level. The correlations indicate that there are low and moderate associations between the factors that integrate the scales. Key words: school social climate, parenting styles, life satisfaction, adolescence, positive development
