Recent researches in this area show, however, that the majority of archaeological remains, linking to rock art paintings, re?ect more recent occupations dating from: the Late Archaic characteristic of hunter-gatherers (4,000 to 1,000 BC), the middle Formative process associated to neolithization process (500 BC to 500 AD), but also from pre-Inca and Inca period (1,200 to 1,450 AD). This work focuses more speci?cally on rock art paintings of naturalist tradition, considered the oldest and associated with the ?rst two moments of occupation of the Andean highlands. First, we describe the main stylistic conventions and themes represented. Then, we specify their loca-tions and results of the study of archaeological remains associated activities that re?ect a temporary home. All these results lead us to believe that rock art paintings of this tradition would be related to changes in lifestyle and mobility patterns of hunters-gatherers in the Andean highlands, at the end of the Archaic and early AD.FONDECYT14FONDECYT11060144https://hdl.handle.net/10533/165255S/EDITORIALinstname: Conicytreponame: Repositorio Digital RI2.0instname: Conicytreponame: Repositorio Digital RI 2.0info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/Fondecyt/11060144info:eu-repo/semantics/dataset/hdl.handle.net/10533/93479info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessLA TRADITION NATURALISTE DES PEINTURES PUPESTRES DES GROUPES CHASSEURS-CUEILLEURS DE LEXTREME NORD DE CHILICTHS-CAHIER DES TRAVAUX HISTORIQUES ET SCIENTIFIQUESCapitulo de libroinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bookPartfraCapituloLibrohttps://hdl.handle.net/10533/165255FONDECYThttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_3248a80e0d46-fbf7-40d0-a506-10ca3976dd59virtual::11477-1a80e0d46-fbf7-40d0-a506-10ca3976dd59virtual::11477-110533/165255oai:repositorio.anid.cl:10533/1652552023-07-03 23:40:45.073https://repositorio.anid.clRepositorio ANIDaletelier@anid.cl |

The paintings in extreme northern Chile are often considered representations related to the earliest settlement of the Andean area, 9,000 years ago.
