Sumario:Humanity is facing an unprecedented global climate emergency. The effects of climate change and the need to establish mechanisms to guarantee the sustainable development of humanity, have mobilized the member countries of the United Nations Organization to sign commitments through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), which are part of the of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and are considered an institutional mandate. CORFO, the public agency in charge of economic development in Chile, has a leading role in the implementation of productive development policies. Its corporate strategy for the period 2018-2022 addresses, in general terms, the challenge of sustainable development without making an intentional alignment on the SDGs, however these are directly linked to its mission. This study considers the Bioeconomy as a potential new policy alternative for CORFO, which could facilitate compliance with the SDGs and complement its actions in terms of sustainability and transformation of the economic development model. Using a descriptive qualitative methodology and making use of secondary information sources, the potential contribution of the bioeconomic model to the achievement of the SDGs relevant to CORFO was analyzed. In a first phase, it is concluded that the Bioeconomy can contribute to the fulfillment of 15 of the 17 SDGs, thus justifying the presence of a policy that effectively manages to align with the goals established in these objectives. In a second phase, the study focused on establishing the SDGs that manage to be linked to CORFO's mission and strategy in the field of sustainability. It was possible to determine that the current programs and instruments have a low association with the SDGs and a degree of ambiguity was identified in the institutional mission regarding their fulfillment. Finally, in a third phase, the experience of four countries that have started the path towards productive transformation through bioeconomic policies was studied. The information obtained made it possible to draw important conclusions for CORFO's future actions in the face of a possible bioeconomic policy in its role as implementing agency, as well as for the different institutions in charge of the design of productive development policies in the country. The current context requires dynamic actions to move towards the transformation of economic activity and quickly face the climate emergency that is affecting the planet and at the same time, urges the institutions of the State of Chile, for the next ten years, to accelerate their responses to this mandate.
