Sumario:The purpose of the research was to determine if there is a relationship between the construction and manipulation of mental models and the understanding of indirect speech acts. To achieve this, an experiment was designed that measured the understanding of indirect speech acts through the MEC protocol and the construction of situational models through anaphoric disambiguation tasks determined by the spatial properties of a situational model. The sample consisted of university students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (N = 23) and university students with typical development (N = 23). The results showed that there is a medium correlation between the understanding of indirect speech acts and the ability to construct and manipulate situational models.
