| Sumario: | This thesis addresses the eco-hydrological cycles of forests and the complex relationship between them and social systems, in the context of the dynamics of temperate forests in southern Chile. The text is structured in three chapters: the first and the second seek to understand the changes of a temperate forest and its effect on the hydrological regulation, sediment and nutrient dynamics along the forest succession. A model of plant succession is used based on a chronosequence, evaluating ecosystem functions in different forest successional stages, particularly those where water, vegetation and soil interact. The third chapter focuses on the analysis of a work model based on the principles of adaptive management, which includes the social dynamics that occur in the forest territory and have a direct or indirect impact on its sustainability. |
