Descripción
Sumario:Galaxias platei is a Chilean endemic fish, with distribution in an extensive geographic area from the central-Southern zone to the Chilean and Argentinean Patagonia. In this work, the somatic nuclear DNA content (2C-value) of Galaxias platei (Galaxiidae) was determined using Feulgen microdensitometry on erythrocyte nuclei. The 2C-value of G platei was 1.88 +/- 0.16 pg and its C-Value is equivalent to 0.94 pg (921,2 Mbp). The C-value of G platei was within the range recorded for others osmeriform species (values from 0.62 to 3.2 pg), and lower to the value previously described for G maculatus (C = 1.105 pg). These data contribute to increase the genome antecedents so far available for the genus Galaxias. which together with previous chromosome analysis, may be utile to evaluate those generic and specific relationships proposed for the family Galaxiidae.
