description In the red raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) two types of cultivars are known according to their habit of flowering, primocane and floricane. In Chile, the main cultivar used is ‘Heritage’, primocane type. However, it has been seen that this character does not come to be expressed according to environmental conditions. Flowering is dependent on environmental conditions, mainly photoperiod and temperature, affecting the floral induction process. Thus, the objective of this research was to study the flowering in the season shoot in different genotypes and the effect of low temperatures on the expression of this character. For this, five genotypes were characterized to determine the degree of primocane fruiting trait and cold treatments were applied in two conditions, in small plants and during the night. To determine the effect of low temperatures, the development of floral lateral shoots, number of flowers, as well as growth and node formation was recorded. The morphology of the meristems of undeveloped buds and the expression of the TFL1 repressor gene were analyzed. The results indicate that there is a difference in the expression of the character and that this expression would be associated to the different requirements of low temperatures, for the floral induction according to the genotype. The TFL1 gene would be one of the main genes involved in this process. Key words: primocane, vernalisation, flowering, temperature

En Chile, el principal cultivar utilizado es ‘Heritage’, del tipo remontante. Sin embargo, se ha visto que este carácter no llega a expresarse según las condiciones medio ambientales. La floración es dependiente de las condiciones ambientales, principalmente fotoperiodo y temperatura afectando el proceso de inducción floral. Así, el objetivo de esta investigación fue estudiar la floración en el brote de la temporada en diferentes genotipos y el efecto de las bajas temperaturas en la expresión del este carácter. Para esto se caracterizaron cinco genotipos para determinar el grado de remontancia y se aplicaron tratamientos de frío en dos condiciones, en plantas pequeñas y durante la noche. Para determinar el efecto de las bajas temperaturas se registró el desarrollo de laterales florales, número de flores, además del crecimiento y formación de nudos. Se analizó la morfología de los meristemas de yemas no desarrolladas y la expresión del gen represor TFL1. Los resultados indican que existe diferencia en la expresión del carácter y que esta expresión estaría asociada a los distintos requerimientos de bajas temperaturas, para la inducción floral según el genotipo. El gen TFL1 sería uno de los principales genes involucrados en este proceso.
