Sumario:The research presented below arises from the need to determine the cognitive-behavioral factors that could be related to the students' performance in reading comprehension tasks. Thus, in this study the reading comprehension variable is related to the executive function construct from a multidimensional perspective. The general objective of this study was to determine the type of relationship establishes between executive functions and reading comprehension level in a sample of first year students of the University of Concepción. For this purpose, a non-experimental cross-sectional study in a sample of 33 subjects, who were defined as good readers, with high IQ and academic performance. The instruments used to collect the data was an inventory of performance behaviors (BRIEF-SR), a reading comprehension test (Lectum 7) and a test measuring intelligence (Raven Progressive Matrix Test). The results of this research do not allow affirming or denying the hypothesis The working area is not powerful enough because of the small sample size, it is not possible to determine the type of relationship established between the variables function executive and reading comprehension. However, the data reported shed light on to the executive functioning of good readers, among which the incidence of the emotional control dimension and the behavioral regulation index.
