Resumo:Road engineering works require detailed projects, which take into account the geological-geotechnical particularities with a quantitative and qualitative characterization of all related conditions, aiming to optimize the executive processes efficiently and economically. The pedological map should be one of the first resources that the geotechnical engineer has available to locate the area and identify the soils existing in the region of the work in order to subsidize the projects to be carried out. However, in most cases it is despised in geotechnics. Thus, the present study aims to demonstrate the application of the use of thematic maps for the execution of two sections of cut slopes in the work called Ligação Torto-Colorado (LTC) , in the Federal District. For this purpose, comparative analyzes were carried out between the information on the maps and the characteristics of the soils found intercepted and exposed by the excavations carried out to implant the slopes. The analyzes carried out corroborate the importance of using pedological maps associated with geological maps for the definition of geological-geotechnical models, enabling the development of analyzes consistent with the characteristics of the materials intercepted by the excavation, which vary from young and mature residual soils to medium weathered rocks , whose behaviors are conditioned by the formations and, depending on the material, also in the direction of the excavation faces.
