| Sumario: | This article intends to analyze the quality indicators related to public basic education in Curitibanos-SC and the possible relationship with the investments received by the federal government. Therefore, the municipality Curitibanos located in the state of Santa Catarina was presented, its main social, economic and demographic characteristics as a form of historical-geographic contextualization. The adopted methodology used data collection, bibliographical and documentary research. Data were gathered from the Basic Education Development Index (IDEB) related to public, municipal, state and federal education for the time interval from 2005 to 2021, from the fourth and ninth grades of elementary school and the third grade of high school, compared the projected goals and observed indices, and later an analysis was carried out in relation to the investments made by the Fund for Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and the Valorization of Education Professionals (Fundeb). From this investigative path, it was possible to verify the socioeconomic profile of the municipality, its social and economic weaknesses, the limits of its dynamics of local development and which focuses on regional development, as Curitibanos presents itself as a municipality that exerts influence on municipalities with smaller populations and dynamics in the region. |
