Descripción
Sumario:This is a commentary on the visit of the artist Maria Martins (1894-1973) to the People’s Republic of China In 1956. The main source is her own account of this experience, narrated In the book Ásia Maior: o Planeta China, whose the first edition is from 1958. We focus our reading on two episodes: his meeting with Chairman Mao Zedong at a private dinner; and her poetic passion for the city of Beijing, which she calls “Blue City”. This article is the result of two oral presentations, by Invitation, at the Beijing Minsheng Art Museum and Peking University, In 2017. In the latter, In 2024, we revised its written version.
