| Summary: | Adsorption processes are promising treatments for the removal of azo dyes from aqueous industrial effluents. The aim of the present study was to develop and validate reliable and low cost molecular absorption spectrophotometry methods for the quantification of azo dyes from adsorption experiments in aqueous phase. Thus, spectral scans of solutions of the azo dyes acid red 17 and hydroxynaphthol blue were performed in the presence of different buffers and interferers as well as different validation tests (linearity, precision, accuracy etc.) were carried out. The influence of the pH of the samples and the selectivity in the presence of calcium ions were also evaluated and eliminated by means of buffers and a cation chelant used as stabilizing solutions. The concentrations of the evaluated analytes were in the concentration range of 5 to 60 mg.L-1. |
