description For Hannah Arendt, the natality is a category of political significance inherent in the human condition. Political action is conceived as a new birth. We were born when we act together, ie, joint action is a kind of political birth. Arendt makes use of Augustine’s philosophy in order to reinterpret their view of natality. The action adopted by Arendt in relation to the Augustinian conception natality walks to transpose this category for the field of political philosophy.

Devido à categoria da natalidade, somos possuidores da capacidade de poder começar algo espontaneamente. O sentido dado por Arendt à palavra ação, consequentemente, encontra-se radicado ontologicamente na natalidade. A ação política é concebida como um novo nascimento. Nascemos quando agimos em conjunto, ou seja, a ação conjunta é um tipo de nascimento político. Arendt lança mão da filosofia de Agostinho com o objetivo de reinterpretar a sua visão de natalidade.
