DETERMINATION OF YIELD AND THE BY PRODUCTS GENERATED IN BLACK-DOWN OF Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.) O. Kuntze LOGS

Descripción
Sumario:This study determined the yield and the volume of wasted wood generated in the bleak down of logs of Araucaria angustifolia. For the determination of the yield in bleak down   175 logs in seven different classes of diameter obtained in a small t sawmill were used. It was observed that 27.7% of the total volume of logs is represented by  bark, which cannot be used in industrialization, being considered as biomass and to energy production. A major yield was obtained in class of diameter between 40 and 44.9 cm, with 63.9% to logs with bark and the smallest yield occurred in class of diameter below 19.9 cm, with 40.6%,  thus the average yield found was 56.3%, being necessary, therefore the bleak down of 1.776 m3  of logs to obtain one cubic meter of sawn  wood. It could be concluded that  the bleak down process of logs of Araucaria angustifolia provided a larger  yield  than that found in literature for other native species.
