Descripción
Sumario:The Em Tese is an academic journal coordinated by postgraduate students from the Sociology and Political Science Program at UFSC, which has published journals every six months, and completed 20 years of existence in 2023. Therefore, the objective of this article is to promote a reflection on the need for a careful look at smaller student journals that work in the humanities area, as well as to expose the internal functioning of these scientific journals, considering their difficulties and limitations. Thus, some variables were analyzed, such as: areas of knowledge, institutions, level of education and gender of published authors, so that we can understand and analyze the parameters of Em Tese in the period (2013-2023).Among the main reflections, we highlight the great gender disparity between authors published in the last decade, with greater number of male authors than female authors, even though currently the editorial board is made up mostly of women, as well as the managing editors and the editor-in-chief.Bearing in mind the scarcity of resources to promote the academic journal, we end with a reflection on the last 3 years, a period in which the authors were part of the editorial board, and in which some important modifications were made, aiming for greater excellence and effectiveness, so that Em Tese can continue disseminating quality scientific content for decades to come.
