Descripción
Sumario:The study, made in nursing homes, aimed to analyze possible relationships between depression, cognitive decline and drug consumption. The following instruments were used to measure the variables: Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS 30) and Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). Data regarding the medication were analyzed using criteria from the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical Code (ATC). As a function of the polymedication, the subjects fit into the risk factors for 'problems related to the use of medications' (PRM's). Correlations were observed between the indicative of depression and cognitive decline. No correlation was observed between the other analyzed variables. Keywords:      Aging; Depression; Cognitive Dysfunction; Institutionalization; Polypharmacy.
