Antigenic characters and morphologic differences of the mammary neoplasms: a comparative study

Four cases of human breast carcinomas were selected and tested for the presence of breast epithelial cell differentiation. Antisera to alpha-lactalbumin, lactoferrin, casein, secretory component, epithelial membrane antigen and carcinoembryonic antigen were employed. The well differentiated tumor wa...

Descrição
Resumo:Four cases of human breast carcinomas were selected and tested for the presence of breast epithelial cell differentiation. Antisera to alpha-lactalbumin, lactoferrin, casein, secretory component, epithelial membrane antigen and carcinoembryonic antigen were employed. The well differentiated tumor was positive for a11 markers tested while the less differentiated one was negative exccpt for alpha-lactalbumin. The intermediate tumors lresented focal staining in the more differentiated areas. A relationship was foun between the presence of markers of breast differentiation and good histological differentiation of tumors. No particular correlation was noted when alpha-lactalbumin was employed.
