| Summary: | The magazine column Garotas do Alceu (Girls of Alceu) circulated in the magazine O Cruzeiro from 1938 to 1964. Over the 26 years of the column’s circulation, Alceu Penna illustrated many issues with references to other time frames. This brief article regards the pin-ups presented as greek goddess, mermaid, Eva and Salome. For the analysis of the columns the theoretical concepts of two art historians were used: the temporal anachronism of Georges Didi-Huberman and the Nachleben of Aby Warburg. In the column Girls and mythology (Garotas e mitologia),Girls even underwater (Garotas até debaixo d’água), This Eva girl (A tal garota Eva) and Dangerous girls (Garotas perigosas) the survival on the images of female bodies was discussed. |
