Descripción
Sumario:DSpace is a technology, free of license payment, highly customizable through configurations, open source, being one of the most used free softwares in the institutions to create their repositories. However, even with all its use, there is still a lack of scientific documents dealing with the technology itself, in Information Science, since part of the studies in this scientific field addresses the results of using the tool itself. Thus, the present study aims to present a history of the use of DSpace in Brazil, with a focus on technology. The study revealed that both research and non-academic institutions have needs that transcend the DSpace default installation, requiring extensions of the standard features of this software, as well as that there is little sharing of such extended functionality, revealing the need for greater disclosure and interaction, mainly among the information technology teams that work at DSpace in Brazil.
