| Sumario: | This text is the result of a research whose goal was to analyze the citizen action of six and seven-years old children, in a class of the first year of Elementary School, in a public school, located in a peripheral neighborhood of Maceió/AL. Our intention was to understand how children exercise their citizenship at school, an institution which is assigned the function of educating citizens. We used the methodology of participatory research to collect data with the development of pedagogical-artistic project on citizenship and poetry. And we analyzed the data through Foucault’s discourse analysis. The main points were: 1) literature as a means of getting to know one’s own social role and form of citizen political claim; 2) the understanding of their citizenship status in the world as a subject with rights to access and duties to fulfill; 3) their desire for political participation and intervention in their reality. As a result, we observed the re-elaboration, by the children, of the speeches about their citizen political experience in the classroom, in the institution as a whole and the community. |
