Descrição
Resumo:As a result of Belo Monte Hydroelectric installation, hundreds of indigenous and peasant families were expropriated from banks and islands in the middle Xingu River, in Pará. These social groups that lost their im-material reproduction bases became politically articulated and established, at the end of 2016, a Riparian Council, which started to fight in the licensing arena to regain fractions of expropriated territory. In this article, the objective is to discuss this political struggle process in its geographical dimension, starting from a qualitative methodology, with obtainment and interpretation of bibliographic and documentary material, besides field information.
