| Sumario: | The aim of this essay is to analyze the route taken by students from traditional Amazonian communities along the Purus River to the State High School in the city of Beruri. To this end, we used observational research and interviews with students who use boat transportation on this route. The study was carried out in five riverside communities where there is no access to secondary education, only primary education. The analysis of the theme highlights the importance of the Purus River as a “highway” for access to secondary education. It was found that some students spend more than seven hours on the boat every day, traveling to and from school, a fact that can interfere with the quality of their learning, considering the physical and emotional strain, as well as the risks inherent in traveling on the boat along the river. |
