Descripción
Sumario:This paper deals with the factors of the historical thought in the writing of history by a 20th century scholar from Rio Grande do Sul (Brasil), Manoelito de Ornellas. For this, the source used was the work Gaúchos e Beduínos, published by this author in 1948. We seek to understand the institutional context of the author, in order to understand the orientations of his historiography, based on the studies of folk culture and Folklore. We opted for the theoretical and methodological scope offered by Jörn Rüsen, trying to understand how the historiography and Ornellian orientations came from the demands of his present time, and also the ways in which they returned to it, aiming to understand the social function of the historical knowledge produced by Ornellas.
