Sumario:The growing use of the Learning Management System (LMS) platforms to support toll for higher education changes the context in which the learning processes occur, the interactions between teachers and students and the activities they perform. In this study, we analyzed the relationship between the students view on the platform and their levels of satisfaction with the use of the LMSs, considering their contribution to the development of skills for online communication for collaborative work and the autonomy. With a quantitative approach, the study includes the statistical analysis of the responses to an online questionnaire to 3740 students from the University of Lisbon who used the LMS platforms to support the classroom teaching in the academic year 2012/13. The 604 responses analyzed allow us to know the opinions of those students in regards the use of these systems. The results revealed the existence of a significant correlation between the perception of students towards the LMSs and their satisfaction with these platforms. Students recognize the platform's use becomes more autonomous for the study and learned more in the subjects where teachers took advantage of these online systems.
