description In this thesis, it is aim to estabilish, from the theoretical and methodological assumptions of Bakhtin (2002; 2010; 2011; 2015; 2016; 2017; 2018), Volóchinov (2017) and Medviédev (2012), a discursive analysis of the identity construction process of the main character Lacie Pound as of Nosedive, an episode of Netflix’s british series Black Mirror, aiming to understand how the interactions that Lacie develops with the other characters go through her identity (Hall, 2015), and how the protagonist’s journey reflects and refracts today’s society issues. In this regard, it is intended to analyze how the Black Mirror series and, especially, how the Nosedive episode, points to thematic issues related to an hypermodern (Lipovetsky, 2020) and digital (Han, 2019) society. Furthermore, within the sphere of narrative's social extremism, it is intended to analyze how hybrid genre occurs through the combination of the science fiction (Suvin, 1979; Brunner, 1971) and dystopia (Moylan, 2016) discursive genres. In conclusion, this research also aims to analyze how the construction of the grotesque body occurs through Lacie’s body, evidencing the social practices that exclude those who escape the pattern of body archetype widespread in hypermodernity. Within Applied Linguistics, especially in its interdisciplinary character (Moita Lopes, 2006), with the intent of approaching concrete social practices, this study adopts the evidential method (Ginzburg, 1989), the dialogic comparison (Geraldi, 2012; Miotello, 2017) and the verbal-visual perspective (Paula, 2017), assuming, therefore, a dialogical orientation. Therefore, we listed 19 scenes from Nosedive, which will be our analysis framework, presented through figures and dialogues taken from the episode. As research results, we realized that the gender hybridism between dystopia and science fiction formulates the narrative of Black Mirror and the episode under analysis, as well as allowing the viewer to reflect on a hypermodern and hyperconnected chronotope. Finally, we identified, in our analysis, that Lacie's process of identity construction is marked by the conflicting relationship of alterity that the character maintains with the subjects that integrate her life, insofar as her fascination and her expectations regarding the existing ranking in society are corrupted. In this sense, the protagonist's identity is fluid and unfinished, given that her journey allows for continuous transformations.

In this sense, the protagonist's identity is fluid and unfinished, given that her journey allows for continuous transformations.Fundação Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESEsta dissertação analisa discursivamente, a partir dos pressupostos teórico-metodológicos de Bakhtin (2018; 2017; 2016; 2015; 2011; 2010; 2002), Volóchinov (2017) e Medviédev (2012), o processo de construção identitária da personagem principal, Lacie Pound, do episódio Nosedive, da série britânica Black Mirror, aspirando compreender como as interações que desenvolve com os outros personagens atravessam a sua identidade (Hall, 2015) e como a sua jornada reflete e refrata questões da sociedade atual. Nesse sentido, investiga como a série Black Mirror e, principalmente, o episódio Nosedive, aponta para temáticas ligadas à sociedade hipermoderna (Lipovetsky, 2020) e digital (Han, 2019). Além disso, dentro da esfera de extremismo social da narrativa, examina como se dá o hibridismo de gênero, o qual ocorre por meio da junção dos gêneros discursivos ficção científica (Suvin, 1979; Brunner, 1971) e distopia (Moylan, 2016). Por fim, esta pesquisa também averigua como ocorre a construção do corpo grotesco no enredo ficcional por meio do corpo de Lacie, evidenciando as práticas sociais que excluem aqueles que fogem do padrão de arquétipo corporal difundido na hipermodernidade. Este trabalho se insere na Linguística Aplicada, sobretudo em seu caráter indisciplinar (Moita Lopes, 2006), uma vez que investiga a refração de práticas sociais, concretizadas discursivamente, no universo ficcional da obra analisada. Para isso, adota o método indiciário (Ginzburg, 1989), o cotejamento dialógico (Geraldi, 2012; Miotello, 2017) e a perspectiva verbivocovisual (Paula, 2017), assumindo, portanto, uma orientação dialogizada de base histórico-social. Nesse viés, elencam-se 19 cenas de Nosedive, as quais constituem o arcabouço de investigação, apresentadas por meio de figuras e diálogos pinçados do episódio. Como resultados de pesquisa, percebe que o hibridismo de gênero entre a distopia e a ficção científica formula a narrativa de Black Mirror e do episódio estudado, bem como possibilita, ao espectador, reflexões acerca de um cronotopo hipermoderno e hiperconectado. Por fim, identifica, ainda, que o processo de construção identitária de Lacie é marcado pela relação conflituosa de alteridade que a personagem mantém com os sujeitos que integram a sua vida, na medida em que seu fascínio e suas expectativas quanto ao ranqueamento existente na sociedade são corrompidos.
