Summary:Introduction: Prostate cancer is one of the oncological diseases with the highest incidence, with no probability of cure, for which it is necessary to implement palliative and supportive care to improve the quality of life of the patient and his environment during his transition through cancer. Objective: To analyze palliative care in patients with prostate cancer. Materials and methods: Documentary review of recent research and clinical studies, both descriptive, theoretical and experimental, focused on palliative care in patients with prostate cancer. Results: A palliative care approach, focused on quality of life and symptom relief, can serve as an important structure to support patients in their last years of life. Conclusions: Palliative care is still a relatively new discipline; it requires a better application at the clinical and organizational level with scientific support to achieve an efficient integration in the health system.
