Sumario:In the year that the fi fth centennial of the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century is celebrated all over the world, it is important to rescue the proposals of seeking spiritual revitalization and reform of the ecclesiastical structures that have happened before Luther. Some of these movements were violently repressed. Others, were assimilated by the ecclesiastical power of the day, or survived somehow. Working with Fernand Braudel’s concept of history of long duration, this article intends to highlight some of these movements. Therefore, there is the aim of studying the Reformation not from a romantic or naïve perspective, rather, from an ecumenical perspective, with emphasis in the elements of convergence between the Reformation itself and its medieval antecedents.
