Among those used Halbawachs Catroga and in the context of the constitution and uses of memory; M. Pollack to issues of identity; Paul Ricoeur regarding the work of mourning and forgiveness, Bauman Zygmunt aspects about the Holocaust, H. Arendt on Violence and coercive aspects and Eric Hobsbawm, in a historical context of World War II.Este artigo tem como objetivo a partir da análise da obra “É isto  um homem?” de Primo Lévi, estabelecer ligação entre os conceitos de memória e identidade, destacando como lógica interna do campo de Auschwitz a impossibilidade de manutenção da identidade individual. Busca demonstrar como a “vivência irracional” dentro dos campos de concentração constitui uma memória traumática, a partir da análise dos testemunhos de Lévi, com os trabalhos dos autores referenciais na temática memória coletiva e individual, identidade e memória traumática. Entre estes utilizei Halbawachs e Catroga no contexto da constituição e usos da memória; M. Pollack para as questões da identidade; Paul Ricouer no tocante ao trabalho de luto e perdão; Sigmunt Baumann nos aspectos sobre o holocausto; H.
