Summary:This article aims to analyze the construction of the discursive ethos of Brazilian public figures on Instagram. To achieve this goal, the study considers as a theoretical framework the idea of ethos (Aristóteles, 2005 [ca. 400 AD]; Amossy, 2005; Charaudeau, 2006; Maingueneau, 2005, 2008, 2020), the concept of scenography developed by Maingueneau (2005, 2008) and, in addition, the enunciative mode of discourse organization proposed by Charaudeau (1992, 2008) to carry out an enunciative-argumentative analysis of the phenomenon at hand. From a methodological point of view, the study is a qualitative desktop study with an interactive approach to the data studied. The results suggest that the construction of the discursive ethos of public figures on Instagram involves the mobilization of visual and linguistic resources that together reveal the projection of different self-images at the level of enunciation. These images exhibit variations that are closely linked to the popularity of the individuals in the digital sphere, revealing the close relationship between ethos, fame and discourse.
