| Resumo: | This research aimed to analyze the causes of dropout in the first period of a technical course of CEFET/RJ, Petropolis Unit. Sought not only to identify the factors directly signaled by former students as abandonment causes, but understanding the relationships between the various elements present in his speeches. The research, which involved desk research and field, took the form of a case study, and the Telecommunications Technician Course was the selected for analysis. As regards the approach of the study was qualitative and employed the strategy of content analysis for treating the material, collected via interviews slightly open. The results of the research show causes of evasion related to the following categories: gaps in choosing the course; school factors; personal difficulties; influence of friends; opportunities and institutional and / or governmental disinterest. |
