Resumo:In this paper we connect the concepts of “knowing” and “knowledge” as complementary forms of organization of human thought, which should be prioritized according to the nature of the research or the object to be grasped, varying the word according to the approach and conception of science to be prioritized. Favoring the concept of “knowing”, as an intrinsic part of the "close experience" to traditional peoples, we show characteristics of the modus operandi and the nature of the "knowing", envisaging the application of this combination of thought methods for building a society of “Bom Viver”. Theories of Da Matta (2010), Levi-Strauss (1997), Geertz (1997; 2005)), Gramsci (1931; 1991), Escobar (2012) and Foucault (2007) are used to support the concepts.
