Sumario:Wetlands provide numerous benefits to society and are extremely threatened ecosystems, especially those associated with large urban centers. The scarcity of research about wetlands is alarming and studying these environments should be a goal in the face of climate change. Here we evaluate the floristic richness of a wetland in Parque Estadual Paulo César Vinha, Espírito Santo State. Our data indicate significant richness in relation to other wetlands in southeastern Brazil. At the same time, a comparison with other similar areas indicates the formation of groups influenced by elements typical of dry to seasonally dry areas that reach the Brazilian coast. Regionally, Parque Estadual Paulo César Vinha has a distinct floristic signature, probably associated with its good state of conservation, and serves as an important metric for evaluating other wetlands.
