| Sumario: | This study has as main focus to work the school cartography with the students of the 9th year of the José do Patrocínio School in the district of Fazendinha in Macapá, AP. Within the objectives of this research, it evaluated the concrete and abstract knowledge of the students, based on their understanding of the geographic space. The methodology used in this investigation was a case study to verify the level of spatial knowledge of the students of this school located on the outskirts of Macapá. As methodological procedures, he initially carried out activities with the students in the classroom, exposing and exemplifying basic concepts of cartography. From this work and the map of the school's region, the students generated mental maps of the areas surrounding the school. Subsequently, there was a search and identification of geographic features present in the neighborhood of the college, having base maps that were divided into 6 regions that are North, Northwest, Northeast, South, Southwest and Southeast. The results obtained show a deficiency in the teaching-learning of school cartography, which shows a difficulty in the process of building abstract knowledge on the part of the students. There were a lot of errors, which shows a huge deficiency in large part when it comes to basic cartography, even missing geographic features that are part of the student's daily life, such as conservation units. This work shows that there is a need to reinforce the teaching of cartography for students at the state school Jose do Patrocínio-AP. |
