Descripción
Sumario:The article investigates the memorial work Senador Pompeu em Crônicas (2004) by José Maria Saraiva Nogueira Júnior focusing on the intellectual trajectory of its author and the chronicles that address subjects or situations related to the 1964 Coup and the Dictatorship in the town of Senador Pompeu (CE). It was established that the narrative was influenced by his personal and intellectual trajectory as he tried to construct, with the chronicles, a certain memory about the town based on the subjects and facts portrayed. Furthermore, it was also noticed that, although it has contradictions regarding the social place of its author, his intentions, silences and interests, the work can play an important role in terms of knowledge of local history if analyzed critically. To this end, we held a dialogue with Barbosa (2013; 2015), Candido (2006), Le Goff (1990), Portelli (2006), Thomson (1997), and others.
