Sumario:The STS education in the Science teaching still undeveloped in Brazil, possibly due to a deficiency fact in teacher training. In this work we sought to discuss possibilities and challenges of offering a STS discipline in a chemistry degree course based on the analysis of the results obtained in na academic semester. The corpus for analysis consists of works developed in this discipline, records of observations made by the conducting professor and individual interviews with undergraduate students at the end of the semester. It was observed that the conceptions of a technical rationality in Chemical education are evidenced as significant gaps in teacher education. Among the greatest difficulties encountered by the participants was the development of class sequences that use the STS approach, especially in the selection of topics and their relationship with scientific knowledge. There i salso a need for a critical deepening.
