Sumario:Depressive symptoms are prevalent across various disorders, particularly mood-related conditions. This case report aims to investigate the treatment procedure for an adult patient in 2024, spanning 13 sessions at a private university in João Pessoa. The sessions were guided by weekly supervision, complemented by book studies and resources on effective techniques, methods and instruments for treating depressive symptoms. This study aims to provide guiding insights into treating persistent depressive symptoms using evidence-based techniques, methods, and instruments from research, books and articles. Throughout the therapeutic process, the following techniques were employed: Downward Arrow (identifying underlying assumptions), Guided Discovery, Socratic Questioning, Dissociation-focused, Psychoeducation, Cognitive Continuum, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Coping Cards, Pros and Cons Analysis, Double Standard (psychological distancing), Reattribution, Gradual Task Assignment, Behavioral Activation, Educational Metaphors. Regarding therapeutic resources, the following resources were used: Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), A Dysfunctional Thought Record (DTR), The Problem-Solving Inventory (PSI), Checklist of Cognitive Distortions. This article aims to clarify the treatment procedure for dysthymia with recurrent suicidal thoughts from a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) perspective, offering a guiding alternative for addressing depressive symptoms. Through a case report conducted in accordance with CBT literature, tools, scales, and tests used in the treatment were evidenced, which helped and resulted in the partial reduction of depressive symptoms and the total reduction of suicidal thoughts.
