Descripción
Sumario:From the images of Plate 70 of Atlas Mnemosyne by Aby Warburg, we carried out an inventory of images of the pathosformel of the abduction in different times and places, including some visual and literary sources of the images. We describe the characteristics of the kidnapped woman's and the kidnapper's gestures, which are repeated and, therefore, persist with nuances throughout Western art. Contrary to certain interpretations that see passivity in the figuration of the kidnapped woman, we affirm the eloquence of the gestures of resistance, rejection and an attempt to escape despite the male physical superiority highlighted in the rhetoric of the muscles.
